what I'm currently reading- the four agreements. (rules to live by)
“If you go home with somebody, and they don't have books, don't fuck 'em!”
― John Waters.
I’ve always wanted to use that quote somewhere and finally it was my time to shine. soo… yes here’s my current book recommendation.
I haven’t finished it yet, but I am already so in love with miguel (my auto correction keeps saying “mogul”) angel ruiz’s book “the four agreements: practical guide to personal freedom”.
he reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. based on ancient wisdom, the four agreements offer a code of conduct that can transform your life to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. well at least that’s what the new york times critique said. so far it has been nothing but inspiring to me so I thought I’d share his four agreements.
screenshot them. print them out. hang them up or keep them somewhere in your notebook. this is a short book that you can read over and over again.
be impeccable with your word.
speak with integrity. say only what you mean. avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
don’t take anything personally.
nothing others do is because of you. what others say and do is a projection of their own reality. their own dream. when you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.
don’t make assumptions.
find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. with just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
always do your best.
your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse and regret.
