better late than never?.
I find these a bit cringe but so many people sent me this list on tumblr that I thought I'd give it a try.
1: What is your name and does it mean anything?
brenda means sword, so if you do me wrong I’ll cut you (out of my life). I actually love having an old ladies name.. I think most brenda's are about 70 years old and I get the “really?” when I tell people my name. yes. really.
2: How long have you known your best friend?
I don’t think I have ONE best friend, honestly have about 15 close, close friends. sounds very excessive but I’ve lived in so many cities and have moved probably 20 times in my life. some I have known for over a decade and some for a little less than a year.
3: What position do you normally sleep in?
I have absolutely no idea, when I wake up I’m in a different position every morning.
4: Do you wish to travel a lot?
luckily I do.
5: Were you a part of any “clique” in high school?
yes. up until I was 16 I was also kind of a bitch. that’s because I lived in my little bubble in hamburg where people knew me and I thought I was cool. luckily I decided to go abroad at 16 and saw the real world and that being cool in high school absolutely doesn't matter.
6: Who was your favourite teacher in high school and why?
my english teacher right before I graduated. she was a bit unconventional and you always appreciate them more years later. but she got me to read “the bell jar” and “perks of being a wallflower”, to this day some of my favourite books.
7: Did you participate in any sports while in school?
fuck no. in germany (at least when I went) school sports where like an hour a week and you could easily skip.
8: Show a sample of your handwriting:
I’ve always hated it but my handwriting is very inconsistent. I used to copy my friend’s handwriting in high school all the time so have no one style of writing.
9: Have you ever given blood?
yes, about 10 times I would say. and I’ve been wanting to do it again lately so this was a good reminder.
10: Do you like the way that you grew up?
yes. that's all.
11: Do you like your siblings? Why or why not?
I have a 2 year old half brother that I adore. so technically grew up as an only child. I still to this day love being alone, which a lot of people hate. I also never had to fight for attention, so now in social situations when other’s are really loud I just kind of keep quiet and don’t try to out-do them as I just wouldn't know how to.
12: How did you meet your best friend and why did you become friends?
most of my best friends I met in school or university, just a look we gave to each other signalising that we hated everyone else.
13: Name one movie that made you cry.
I never cry in real life (out of sadness at least, I cry after 2 seconds of laughing) so absolutely love to cry to films. so any sad film I’m down to watch.
14: Do you prefer to read poetry, write poetry, or neither?
reading it. I’ve actually never tried to write a poem.
15: Things about someone that you find attractive?
HUMOR. before all.
16: What song are you currently listening to?
anything by haux.
17: Have you ever broken a bone? If so, how?
never! I was always a very careful child and would always evaluate how dangerous a citation is. I used to love climbing up trees, my mum always called me monkey (which I think is my chinese star sign), and luckily I never got hurt. have also never been in an accident I think.
18: A random memory from you childhood:
I still remember my first so to say “cultural shock”. I don’t know how old I was, but we traveled to italy and little brenda crossed the street and almost got hit by a car, even though I had a green light. I was absolutely shocked to find out that no one listens to the street light and I still had to double check for cars before crossing the street. boring story but that was one of the first moments I realised that things (behaviours) are different in other countries.
19: Where did you grow up?
20: What was the last thing you watched on tv?
I don’t watch TV, really. but last things I watched on netflix were black mirror and big little lies.
21: Do you think you’d make a good parent?
the thought of having kids doesn’t really cross my mind very often but I would hope so. I am dying to get a dog though.
22: Would you like to meet any of your online friends in person?
met countless people from instagram in real life and they are all amazing friends that I wouldn't trade for the world. I don’t thing there’s anything weird with that. we find dates on dating apps so why wouldn't we find out friends online, too?
22: What was the last dream you remember having?
I was walking down the street in seoul. that’s all I remember. I desperately want to go back there asap.
23: When is your birthday?
26th of november.
24: How many pillows do you sleep with?
two, but that’s not the life I want to live, I need more.
25: Do you wear glasses? If so, how long have you been wearing glasses?
nope. have also never gotten my eyesight tested which is pretty stupid.
26: What colour is your hair?
naturally a dark blonde but currently pitch black.
27: Name 5 facts about your appearance:
that’s a weird one.
28: What is your favourite soda?
NONE. don’t drink soda, I find it disgusting. not even as a treat, like imagining a cold coke on a hot day? doesn't appeal to me at all. I drink water and coffee, occasionally alcohol, that’s it.
29: What is a strange talent that you have?
kind of sad, but I can’t think of any.
30: How’s the weather right now?
surprisingly sunny in london.
31: Why did one of your friendships end?
I never really have fights with people, I’m the opposite of dramatic, and so are the friends I choose, so it’s mostly a mutual understanding of let’s just let this friendship fade.
32: Who do you miss right now?
since all of my friends are scattered across the globe, I constantly miss everyone.
33: Why did your last relationship end?
it’s not you, it’s me. I move to another country every year and hardly compromise for anyone else. that might sound very selfish but I’m sure I will want to stay for once at some point, for the right person.
34: Are you still figuring out who you are?
yes. and hopefully I will for the rest of my life.
35: Have you ever been admitted to a hospital? Why?
I don’t think I have, ever.
36: What is your favourite restaurant?
too many to count, in several cities.
37: What is word that you always seem to spell wrong?
38: Would ever adopt kids?
39: What is your favourite kind of pizza?
40: What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?
that I need coffee.
41: When was the last time you got really really happy and why?
oh god, super cheesy but whenever I think about my life. I consider myself incredibly lucky.
42: What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
my grandma made me eat a cow’s tongue when I was 8 or so, I think I threw up on her kitchen table.
43: How do you start a conversation?
I don’t. I’m pretty introverted and probably won’t talk to you until you come up to me.
44: What’s a band you’ve been obsessed with lately?
scrolling to my apple music, it’s kind of odd but everything I see is from solo artists.
45: Do you come from a family “of money?”
growing up I knew both the struggle of money and the luxury of having it.
46: Do you have a bucket list?
not a physical one, but yes a million things I want to see, achieve, experience in the curse of my life. actually one of them is to finally start writing it all down. I’ve bought a total of 14 diaries in my life but have never lasted longer than a week.
47: What is your favourite series of books?
harry potter. the first series I actually started reading in english was gossip girl, I think I was about 12.
48: When was the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt?
every time I spend with my close friends. they also all know that, when I really laugh, I cry. and they’re not allowed to make fun of me for that. it actually doesn't even have to be that funny, if I laugh for more than a minute, I get teary - eyed.
49: Where do you go when you’re sad?
anywhere where I can be by myself. there’s the famous naomi campbell tweet that I live by:
50: 5 random facts about yourself:
1. I have an incredibly long name, that includes a double surname. so I can rarely check in for flights online as every airline writes my surname differently, as it has to be shortened to fit into their systems.
2. I started being vegan just because of a bet. just turned out I loved it, and now it’s been three years.
3. cannot function with less than eight hours of sleep. I also am not a morning person. when I'm with a friend in the morning I mostly don't talk to them before I get my coffee, just out of fear of being rude. my biggest pet peeve is being impolite to others, so I'd rather be quiet than to be rude to someone else.
4. I stopped wearing colour when I was about 15. my parents don’t think it’s a phase anymore.
5. I lied about my height for my passport and ID. I am 1,69m but I thought it looked weird so I just said 1,70 and they never checked. criminal.
